About Us.

The Bow Bottom Community Coalition (BBCC) is a community group of volunteers promoting health, well being, safety, and support for all, through coordinated and collaborative action.

Our Impact

Volunteers on the BBCC meet monthly to plan and organize community events, here are a few of the initiatives organized by the BBCC:

  • Neighbour Day, a afternoon long event each June to build community connectivity in the Deer Run/Deer Ridge/Queensland area.

  • Free workshops for the community

  • 1st Annual BBCC Basketball Tournament

Summer Play Day Camp 2019

 

Leader in Training Program 2019

Summer Play Day Camp a free day camp for children aged 5-12 in Deer Ridge (77 Deerpoint Rd. SE, Calgary), meals included! This camp includes activities that promote activity and healthy living, mental health awareness, diversity, and brings in special guests from the community (guests have included PALS, Calgary Public Library, CPAWS Southern Alberta, Calgary Fire Department, Butterfield Acres, and many more!). This year, Summer Play Day Camp will run during the following dates:

July 16 - 19

July 23 - 26

August 6 - 9

August 13 - 16

 

The Summer Play Leader in Training Program is a volunteer opportunity that trains young adults aged 14-18 to be junior camp leaders at the Summer Play Day Camp.

What do you get out of the experience?

  • Minimum of 26 volunteer hours completed in childcare/recreation

  • Work experience and a reference for your resume

  • A really fun time within a supportive community!

What is the commitment?

  • Must be available during training dates: Wednesday June 12, 19 and 26 (4:30 - 6:30pm) 77 Deerpoint Rd. SE, Calgary

  • Available to commit to a minimum of one week (four days) of camp

Participants receive training in diversity, addiction prevention, mental health awareness, and child care/recreation. Presenters have included ConnectTeen, Skipping Stone Foundation, Aspen Family Network and the Disability Action Hall.

Attend BBCC meetings

Are you interested in event planning, or coordinating activities? Attend our planning meetings; we meet the second Tuesday of every month.
